I am a fun-loving person who often takes on challenges that I am now figuring out that I might be getting too old to do! I joined the Army Reserves out of high school and entered into the challenging MOS of Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear warfare. From there the challenge led me to Airborne school then bungee jumping off a crane. I retired in 2012 with 24 years of experience and lots of memories!
My BS degree in Biology and minor in Chemistry and Education led me into my long and satisfying career in high school teaching. One of my favorite parts of teaching science is getting students involved in science contests like Envirothon, Science Olympiad, Smarts Challenge, and Science Quiz Bowls. I love to see the students use their knowledge and experience from my classroom to reach success outside the classroom! I am pretty competitive as well, so winning is nice too. But doing their best and having success makes me proud!
My husband, Chad, and three children live on a farm close to Pollock, SD but still in North Dakota. Chad is an agronomist in Strasburg, ND. My oldest daughter attends school at NDSU majoring in soil science/geology and my son and youngest daughter attend school in Linton, ND.
My hobbies include taking care of my animals on our farm and exercising. I have a black lab, Chumlee, a golden retriever, Sophie, and a cross of a toy poodle and chihuahua, Lily, for dogs. My chickens keep me busy too but are not really the friendly cuddly type like my dogs.
My family loves to go boating, skiing, surfing, tubing, and wakeboarding. We spend time at the State Line Resort camping and boating all summer. Great place with great friends!
